Thiess are Australia’s leading construction, mining and services contractor with a large and diverse portfolio of work spanning urban and regional centers in the domestic market and abroad. In Western Australia the company is engaged on many landmark infrastructure and civil engineering projects and has a strong order book of future work. With capacity tight and a project pipeline that could potentially outweigh the likely availability of skilled resources from local and interstate labour markets Thiess realised that they needed to explore options further afield including tapping into select overseas talent pools to complement their existing engineering, technical and management expertise.
To manage the campaign and deliver a successful outcome we appointed a UK Project coordinator as well as a Project Manager in Australia and a multi channel resourcing strategy was then implemented to attract desired high grade level candidates.
These efforts resulted in a staggering 2,000 quality applicants from across the UK, all of them were personally processed and pre-screened by us to ensure a responsive and positive candidate experience. From this initial slate of candidates, we presented a list of 40 finalists for interview in the UK who most closely met Thiess’s needs and profile. In total twenty offers were made and an impressive eighteen people accepted and started employment with Thiess in Australia.
