Job description
This organisation are looking for a RIBA Part 1 Architectural Assistant on a temporary basis for 6 months initially. 

* Carry out professional Architectural duties and services as part of the multi-discipline design and project management Delivery Unit within Children’s Services reporting to the Principal Architect
* Work under the supervision and guidance of a qualified architect to produce drawings, sketches, designs and reports for option appraisals and feasibility studies for schemes of value between £100k and £15m
* Assist in producing designs of construction value between £100k to £4.5m
* Assist in producing full design, detailed construction information and building specification
* Obtaining planning and building control permissions and BREEAM ‘excellent’ standard design
* Keep updated the asset management set of drawings and database

* Accountable to   the Principal Architect 
* Provide day to day support to the Principal Architect in the delivery of projects
* You will be coached and develop in a team environment to improve and deliver service excellence
* Deliver all work outputs in an accurate and timely manner and to the Principal  Architect’s satisfaction
* Utilise and embed best practice tools and processes including the use of technology to support delivery of BIM and NBS specification manager
* Capable of taking a design assignment from inception to completion of low value building projects of up to £100k
* Understand and comply with project risk and  delivery parameters including commerciality in respect of agreed scopes of service
* Capture and share knowledge and be involved with the development of service improvement and innovation
* Provide commercial support to the Principal Architect in relation to resource management

* Developing knowledge and keen interest in design using different forms of construction technology 
* Some experience  of using various forms of contract, ideally the JCT and NEC forms of contract
* Knowledge and interest in environmental and sustainable design
* A good understanding understanding of planning, building control and CDM regulations
* Proficient with Revit Architecture and AutoCAD
* Excellent communication capabilities with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally by explaining contractual obligations to lay people and in writing by producing concise, factual and clear reports

* RIBA  part 1 qualification, ideally with a minimum 2 year experience within a commercial or Local Authority environment.
