Job description
This organisation are looking for a Human resources Advisor/Officer to work on a temporary basis for 6 months initially. 

Main Duties:

* To assist in the delivery of consistent Personnel advice, support and assistance to Council Service Units, including employee relations, employee resourcing and organisational development, to enable them to make the best use of their resources to achieve and maintain the highest quality of service delivery.
* To support the Head of Human Resources and Principal Personnel Officers in providing a day-to-day Personnel service to Service Units of the Council, researching particular queries and responding direct to Service Units on issues where appropriate to the knowledge, experience and grading of the postholder.
* To assist in the development, review and implementation of corporate Personnel policies in line with current employment legislation and good practice to ensure that the Council meets its commitment to be a good employer and is able to recruit and retain the employees it needs to deliver its services.
* To contribute to the delivery of the corporate training and development programme, at a level appropriate to the knowledge, skills and grading of the postholder.
* To provide specialist knowledge and advice in at least one of the following areas :
• Employment law
• Employee relations
• Equality of opportunity in employment 
• Best Value
• Recruitment and selection
* To assist and support the Council in achieving its:
• Improving the quality of life for those that live and work in the Borough and to make it a place where people, communities and businesses can flourish.
• Performance Plan
• Managing change resulting from the organisations restructuring
• Implementing Single Status

You should match the following criteria:

* You will either be partly or fully qualified Chartered Institute Personnel Development (CIPD)
* Experience in dealing with the implementation of Personnel policies within a department or someone with a significant level of experience in Personnel administration
*  Ability to draft advertisements and or supervise the corporate Register of Temporary Employees. 
* Ability to carry out research on some Personnel matters, and to draw conclusions. 
* Ability to assist in providing advice to managers and employees on general Personnel policies. 
* Ability to use Information Technology to automate the administration involved in providing a Personnel service. Willingness to start studying towards full membership of the IPD.
