Job description
This organisation are looking for a Strategic Planning and Regeneration Officer on a temporary basis for 3 months initially.

Due to the amount of regeneration and investment coming forward exciting opportunities have recently arisen with this organisation. They have an ambitious regeneration programme in a Town Centre, including a new offices and many major schemes coming forward.   

The area benefits from a rich historic environment with 941 Listed Building entries and 25 Conservation Areas. As well as 28 scheduled monuments and 3 historic gardens. They have an up-to-date core strategy and adopted CIL. They are working closely with the Economic Development and Regeneration team to produce development briefs on key regeneration areas and are currently in the process of bringing forward a site allocations document.   

Main Duties:

* Preparation and monitoring of the local development framework, policy statements and other studies in accordance with an agreed programme of work.
* Planning policy formulation, analysis and advice.  This will include liaison with the Development Management  service  and negotiations with potential developers on policy and design matters.
* Preparation of evidence for planning appeals and inquiries and, where necessary, to appear at public examinations and inquiries as an expert witness.
* To keep informed about planning and related matters, new and emerging legislation affecting the area and to meet professional obligations under the Continuing Professional Development of the Royal Town Planning Institute

You should match the following criteria:

* Degree in planning or related subject.
* Range of subjects at GCSE or Advanced Level or equivalent.
* Experience and knowledge of planning legislation and practice.
* Presenting evidence and professional opinion to elected Members and other audiences.
* Ability to undertake effective public consultation / engagement.
