Construction Quantity Surveyors for several Build schemes in North Wales

Fusion People are working with the Northwest Commercial Head for this Tier One Building Contractor. Due to the award of a string of new build, refurbishment and maintenance projects up to £5m in value, the need has arisen for several Quantity Surveyors to be recruited on a permanent basis…

 

THE CLIENT

This well-established Contractor has an enviable reputation throughout its offices in the UK and Europe. The Northwest and Yorkshire region will turnover in excess of £160m this year compared to £100m in 2015.

The majority of my their client’s project are within the Education, Leisure, Healthcare and Infrastructure sectors covering varying forms of contract from NEC (predominantly) and JCT D&B.

They play a key role in personal staff development and training and are proud to have a long standing management team.

 

THE ROLE AND LOCATION

Based on site in North Wales around the Llandudno, Bangor, Anglesey and Holyhead areas, the Quantity Surveyor will report into a Managing QS. He / she will be responsible for managing the financial & contractual aspects of a number of new build projects, helping to ensure that financial profitability and the entire commercial aspects of all new build projects under their control are managed effectively.

 

KEY DUTIES

-Provide accurate financial reporting on individual projects

-Collate, review financially and report on other projects within her/his remit

- Place subcontracts in accordance with the main contract and the client’s policies and procedures

- Advise other Quantity Surveyors of opportunities to maximise values and minimise costs.

- Monitor sub-contractor against programme and ensure direct reports do likewise and offer advice and support on problem areas

- Monitor internal expenditure against budget and ensure direct reports do likewise

- Ensure consistent and accurate forecasting

- Implement and monitor all commercial systems and procedures and ensure effective operation

 

SUITABLE APPLICANTS WILL HAVE

- Comprehensive level of commercial experience preferably with a Main Contracting organisation

- Used to working on own initiative with knowledge of the procurement of sub-contractors and the monthly measurement cycle associated with this

- Understanding of suppliers’ business and current commitments to other contracts

- Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills; able to manage projects simultaneously with compromising on standards and quality

- Sound knowledge of the construction industry with ideally extensive NEC experience

- Ability to ensure standards and specifications are met

 

SALARY AND PACKAGE

Several QS’s are required so as a guide the salary levels range upto £52k basic + car or allowance, pension, healthcare, performance bonus and genuine scope to progress…
