Job description

Our Client is looking to recruit an experienced individual, with a desire to progress their career within a major contractor environment.  As a Possession Planner you will assist in the preparation of multidisciplinary project programmes including structural work, bridge reconstructions, route modernisation, earthworks, de-vegetation or clearance.  Reporting directly to Contracts Manager, you will liaise with the project management teams to ensure the successful delivery of project deliverables.  Being a qualified SSOW Planner you will ensure all planning of possession arrangements and line block bookings are in line with Network Rail timescales and regulations.

The successful candidate will have extensive industry experience, having previously undertaken a similar role.  Along with a PPS and On:trac planning access you will hold the SSOW planning Core Level 2 qualification, and be able to interpret Health and Safety Appendices based on a good understanding of the Network Rail Rule Book.  Ideally already in possession of Personal Track Safety Competency and a full driving licence, you will be medically fit to carry out work on rail infrastructure.  Your working week will be split between Reading, 2 days with Network Rail, and the main Somerset office, you will also have some flexibility to work from home.

The Client is a Main Contractor, with a mature client base, built on a strong relationships within the rail industry.   Providing a range of civil, building, mechanical and electrical and maintenance services;  they have a client base including Network Rail, train operating companies and other major contactors within the rail sector.  Offering an extensive multi-disciplinary range of  design, construction, renewal, refurbishment, installation, commissioning and maintenance capability, they pride themselves on their engineering excellence and multi-skilled labour force, supported by excellent planning and project management skills.  Project delivery includes tunnel, bridge, embankment or station schemes through to the provision of a 24 hour emergency call out service.
