A Senior Permanent Way Design Engineer is required to join a Design and Engineering Consultancy with a strong presence in the railway sector. Based in the Client’s Cardiff office you will be a part of a successful Rail Team delivering prestigious and stimulating schemes. Interfacing with Clients and other disciplines you will work on a diverse portfolio of projects, with your main involvement in checking, delivering and controlling permanent way design output. Reporting to the Principal Engineer you will assist with Project Management duties, working on projects from feasibility through to detailed design including surveys, switches and crossing (S&C) renewals, track alignment or line speed improvement. Utilising your knowledge and track engineering expertise you will contribute towards developing and mentoring a growing P-way team; simultaneously striving to advance the Company’s capability and practices associated with permanent way.
As a Senior Engineer you will have considerable experience and knowledge of all aspects of permanent way design including construction and renewal; coupled with good interpersonal skills enabling you to support less experienced engineers. Ideally degree qualified within an engineering discipline, coming from a consulting background , you will have a technical skill set developed through engagement in rail project delivery on Network Rail infrastructure. The Client is looking for an individual with a sound working knowledge of MicroStation or AutoCAD, able to support design using Bentley Railtrack and ClearRoute; also flexible to travel throughout the UK if required.
