Job description

Purpose of the Role:

To produce precision components from 3D CAD models and paper drawings. To generate 3 and 5 axis CNC programmes using our CAD/CAM systems. Set and operate 3 & % Axis Machines.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Offline programming to create 3 and 5 axis CNC codes
  • Examine and modify programmes as necessary to ensure accurate results
  • Accurately set up tools and load materials to ensure accurate results
  • Carry out machining of components to drawing tolerances
  • Carry out inspection, including first-off inspection to the authorised level
  • Identify and report drawing errors and suggest improvements
  • Work with Engineering to overcome design problems
  • Work with Managers and Supervisors to implement the Company’s policies and business objectives
  • Make a positive contribution to maintaining a workplace that is healthy, safe, neat and tidy
  • Carry out any other duties reasonable within capability as required by the Machine Shop Supervisor

 

Desirable Skills:

  • Design and create manufacturing aids for production as required
  • Assist production with dimensions/templates as required

  

Person Specification:

Core experience:

 

  • Fully skilled, time serves engineer/tool maker with CNC router/milling experience
  • CNC setter/operator with 5 years experience of off line programming
  • Fully conversant in using Fanuc and/or Osai operating system is desirable
  • Experienced in working to fine tolerances with composite materials
  • Able to interpret engineering drawings
  • Have flairs for innovative solutions to problem and design improvements
  • Able to use a wide variety of measuring equipment
  • Able to prioritise, work under own initiative and calmly under pressure
  • The ability to multi task in a fast paced environment
  • Flexible, courteous, friendly and positive approach
  • Discretion, confidentiality and professionalism at all times
  • Eligible to work in the UK

Desirable Experience:

  • Ideally conversant with Alphacam and Catia (other CAD/CAM packages considered)

Hours of work:

  • Days to start during “settling in” period, then shift work days/nights (Hours to suit individual within reason)
  • Salary in negotiable dependent upon experience. Night shift hours are paid at 1.5 x hourly rate

This is a very busy role where you will be involved in operations and required to liaise with all departments across the company.
