Following her apprenticeship, Sophie decided to stay on and has since moved up within the company. In this interview, she reflects on her journey from starting out to taking on more responsibility and the steps she took to get there.

What made you choose an apprenticeship, and how has that decision impacted your career journey?

I chose to do an apprenticeship as it seemed the perfect opportunity to gain hands-on experience whilst also learning about the industry. It allowed me to enter the working world and start gaining new skills and experiences with the support from my mentor, manager, and colleagues. From deciding to do an apprenticeship, it has positively impacted my career journey by allowing me to apply the knowledge I’m learning in real time and increasing my confidence within the role, growing personally and professionally.

How did your apprenticeship prepare you for your current role at Fusion People?

My apprenticeship prepared me for my current role at Fusion People as a Recruitment Consultant as it provided me with the resources to learn and understand essential information about the industry. It also allowed me to learn key skills needed to be successful within the role such as time management, communication, and building professional relationships.

What do you enjoy most about working with Fusion People now that you’ve completed your apprenticeship?

Working with Fusion People, I enjoy working with a supportive and knowledgeable team which allows me to continuously learn and improve. I am building strong relationships with clients and candidates everyday and seeing positive results from the efforts I put into the job is fulfilling. The combination of personal and professional growth and seeing how far I’ve come since starting at Fusion People as an Apprentice makes it enjoyable.

How has your apprenticeship experience shaped your career ambitions, and what advice would you give to someone thinking about becoming an apprentice?

My apprenticeship experience has shaped my career ambitions by providing the resources I need to learn about the industry and essential skills. In my opinion, I believe apprenticeships are a great opportunity and give you a head start into the industry, allowing you to learn alongside gaining hands on experience.
