Introduction:

Fusion People are at the final stages of the replacement of 33,000 square meters aluminium Kalzip roof with 96 bays. Each bay includes both parallel and welded tapered and curved sheets which gives the building its toroidal (donut shape)  after the existing roof started to deteriorate due to thermal movement.

Mac Roofing were appointed as the principle contractor under an NEC 3 contract but quickly sub contracted the replacement project to Fusion People who have demonstrated they can create skilled teams with management on a labour only basis.

Project:

The project was agreed to start on the 28^th March 2022 and a completion date of 2^nd December 2022.

Kelzip was secured as the standing seam product with the new e Clip system. Each bay was to be replaced cutting off the existing metal sheets, removing the insulation and hard rock and stripping down to original deck plate. Fusion People have re sealed with new VCL, saddled, top hat and duo railed with sliding e Clips with final insulation and sheets zipped for closure.

Through our robust management and reporting system we have been flexible when the client has changed the programme due to the highly sensitive areas of the building that required detailed build up to ensure scientists could carry on with their work.
